BEIJING, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- The output value of China's energy saving and environmental protection industry would hit 2.8 trillion yuan (412 billion U.S. dollars) by 2012, said Xie Zhenhua, deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission on Sunday.     Those sectors have become a new economic growth point and have bright prospects in China, Xie said at the fourth China-Japan Energy-saving and Environment Protection Forum which began Sunday.     He said the government will beef up investment in the construction of resource recycling projects, which will directly boost the industry development.     He noted the government will further reform the pricing system of the resource products.     Enterprises should also enhance innovation to break technological bottleneck notably in the development of clean coal transfer technology and pollutants treatment facilities.     China has been pushing for a national energy saving campaign to address the worsening conflicts between economic growth and environmental deterioration.

BEIJING, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- China's auto sales and output both exceeded 12 million units in the first 11 months, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) announced Monday.     The CAAM forecast sales and output for the whole year would both exceed 13 million units.     In November alone, sales reached more than 1.35 million units, according to preliminary statistics. BEIJING, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- China's State Council, the cabinet, said on Monday that the government was discussing measures and policies for the healthy development of the country's real estate sector as house prices in some cities are rising too fast.     Housing prices returned to growth on month-on-month basis since March this year on record lending and the government's favorable policies to stimulate property consumption, including tax breaks and interest rates cuts.     But as the market recovers, housing prices in some cities are soaring too fast, which deserves "great attention", according to an executive meeting of the State Council, chaired by Premier Wen Jiabao.     In order to maintain the "stable" and "healthy" development of the real estate market, China will increase supply of smaller houses at medium-and-low price levels, continue to support residential consumption for improved housing while curbing speculation.     The country will also expand construction of housing projects for low-income families, aiming to help 15.4 million more poor households solve their housing problems by 2012, attendees agreed at the meeting.     Meanwhile, more efforts will be made during the next three to five years to improve living conditions for residents living in shabby houses in some cities, they agreed.     About 10 million households are still living in "shanty towns" in some cities across the country, the meeting revealed.     The central government will offer financial support to renovate those "shanty towns" during the next three to five years, they agreed, but did not say how much funding would be put in place.     Local governments should increase concrete spending in rebuilding these poorly-constructed houses. Social investment is welcomed at these projects, according to the meeting.

BEIJING, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- China's discipline watchdog Wednesday opened a national informant website, to deal with the public's reports on discipline violation problems of the Party organizations and its members, and to collect suggestions for the Party's anti-corruption work.     The informant website, www. 12388. gov. cn, was launched by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and the Ministry of Supervision.     Citizens in China's 31 provinces and autonomous regions can all send their complains through the website, which has 31 portals for citizens from different places sending their appeals.     Each computer is required to send three letters each day in order to prevent repeated appeals.     The discipline watchdogs are also planning to establish informant website in city and county levels, in order to build a nationwide reporting system.     Since 2005, local supervision and discipline departments began to set up informant website one after another, which had accepted a large number of public complaints, helped relevant departments uncover valuable clues and also played an important role in combating corruption.     However, these websites did not work well because of its non-standard domain name and inadequate working system.     On June 26 last year, Supervision Ministry opened an informant hotline "12388" for people to report discipline offences of civil servants and officials.
