BEIJING, May 6 (Xinhua) -- Premier Wen Jiabao said on Tuesday that China supported the Caribbean integration process.     "China will strengthen dialogue with the Caribbean community based on mutual respect, reciprocity and equality to promote south-south cooperation and achieve common prosperity," said Wen. BEIJING, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- A reception was given here Monday to mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). Chinese top political advisor Jia Qinglin attended the event.     Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, congratulated the DPRK on the anniversary, hailing the DPRK's economic and social achievements over the past six decades.     "We are wholeheartedly glad to see it, and hope to see the DPRK and its people score bigger achievements in their future national construction," Jia said at the opening of the reception. BEIJING, July 9 (Xinhua) -- The parties involved in the Korean Peninsula nuclear talks held intense bilateral meetings here to pave the way for the discussions between chief negotiators, which are scheduled for Thursday afternoon. Kim Sook, chief negotiator of the Republic of Korea (ROK) delegation, met with his U.S. counterpart Christopher Hill and Chinese chief delegate Wu Dawei on Wednesday.    After the bilateral meetings, Kim told reporters that he felt neither "optimistic" nor "pessimistic" about the six-party talks, and each party needed to cool down and detail the relevant issues. The heads meeting of a new round of six-party talks on Korean Peninsular nuclear issue will be held here on July 10.     Hill, after meeting with the ROK side, said they touched upon issues including the verification process for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) denuclearization, fuel aid to the country, food shipments and other issues.     Hill said he is scheduled to have a breakfast meeting on Thursday with Russian chief delegate Alexei Borodavkin, after which there will be a trilateral meeting of China, the United States and Russia, with the aim of fully preparing for the six-party talks in the afternoon.     Hill met with the DPRK delegation soon after he arrived in Beijing on Tuesday afternoon, saying that denuclearization verification, including documents, site visits and interviews, would be a focal point in the upcoming meeting.     Under an agreement reached in October, the DPRK agreed to abandon all nuclear weapons and programs and declare all its nuclear programs and facilities by the end of 2007, in exchange for diplomatic and economic incentives.     The DPRK submitted its nuclear declaration to China on June 26 and demolished the cooling tower at the Yongbyon nuclear reactor on June 27, though it missed the deadline.

BEIJING, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Hu Jintao, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on Tuesday urged Taiwan to work together with the mainland based on four principles: "Building mutual trust, laying aside disputes, seeking consensus and shelving differences, and creating a win-win situation."    He called for substantial efforts for the welfare of Chinese compatriots on both sides, to seek peace across the Taiwan Strait and create a new situation for the peaceful development of cross-strait relations.     Hu made these remarks in a meeting with Lien Chan, honorary chairman of the Kuomintang Party (KMT), his wife and his delegation, at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in central Beijing. BEIJING, April 19 (Xinhua) -- The All-China Journalists Association (ACJA) on Saturday asked U.S.-based. news network CNN and its commentator Jack Cafferty to apologize for his remarks regarding China.     In an interview with Chinese media including Xinhua News Agency, a senior official with the ACJA strongly condemned Cafferty for his "insulting" words in a TV show on April 9 and asked him and CNN to make a formal apology to all Chinese as soon as possible.     Cafferty said in the TV show that Chinese products were "junk" and China was "basically the same bunch of goons and thugs they've been for the last 50 years" when the Olympic torch relay was going on in San Francisco.     Since the Lhasa violence on March 14, some foreign media including CNN had made a number of biased reports about the incident, the official said.     CNN had violated the principle of objective reporting, and "this is not what responsible media should do," he said.     "And Cafferty also disregarded a journalist's professional ethics to attack a country with insulting words," the official said.     Despite having an effective mechanism to deal with false reporting, CNN issued a statement on its website six days after Cafferty's remarks, which not only pleaded for him, but also spearheaded its attack on the Chinese government, he said.     CNN issued a statement on Tuesday saying, "It was not Mr. Cafferty's nor CNN's intent to cause offence to the Chinese people, and CNN would apologize to anyone who has interpreted the comments in this way."     But, the statement said that Cafferty was offering his "strongly held" opinion of the Chinese government, not China's people.     "We hope CNN and Cafferty to realize that they have harmed the feelings of Chinese and apologize with a rational and responsible attitude," the official said.     With the Olympic Games drawing near, the ACJA welcomed all foreign media to cover the event in an objective and balanced way, he said.

KUNMING, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has pledged that his government will extend further support to poor areas inhabited by ethnic minority people.     "All ethnic groups form one big family. We must be united and help each other, to prosper and make progress together," Wen told a group of Jingpo nationality farmers during a visit to the Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture in Southwest China's Yunnan Province.
