Chinese Society for Immunology (CSI) was founded in
1984. Now it has over 2500 members, among whom 1000 are members of
International Union of Immunological Societies (IUIS). There are six
official periodicals in Chinese, i.e., Chinese Journal of
Immunology, Immunological Journal, Current Immunology, Chinese
Journal of Cellular and Molecular Immunology, Chinese Journal of
Cancer Biotherapy, Chinese Journal of Neuroimmunology and Neurology,
and one Journal in English, i.e., Cellular & Molecular
Immunology published by CSI.
The Society has seven academic committees in
different fields as follows: The Basic Immunology Committee, The
Clinical Immunology Committee, The Committee for Tumor Immunology
and Bio-therapy, The Reproductive Immunology Committee, The
Neuro-immunology Committee, The Veterinary Immunology Committee, and
The Committee for Terms in Immunology.
The current President of CSI is Professor Xuetao
Cao, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering. The current vice
presidents are Professors Boquan Jin, Dexian Zheng, Xueguang Zhang,
Feili Gong, and Zhigang Tian. The Secretary-General is Professor Wei
He. Among the 76 council members, four are members of Chinese
Academy of Sciences or Chinese Academy of Engineering.
The Society convenes regular national conferences
and workshops on immunology to promote exchange of knowledge and
experiences in the fields. It is also responsible training courses
and symposia with different topics, which cover virtually all areas
of contemporary immunology and biomedicine, such as
neuro-immune-endocrine holistic regulatory systems, cell signal
transduction, cell activation, gene transfer, cell growth and death.
To promote international academic exchange, CSI hosted an
international symposium on immunology in 1996, which had over 200
participants from 13 Countries and Regions, and an international
conference on immunology in 1999 in Shanghai.
A special meeting named the 973 Fragrant Hill
Scientific Symposium on Immunology was held by the Chinese Academy
of Sciences & the Chinese Academy of Engineering in the 2001.
Following this, the Chinese Society for Immunology holds regularly
workshops on advanced Immunology once a year with domestic and
oversea participants. |
