Japanese carmakers intend on building more plants in China in order to increase production capacity and expand their businesses in the largest auto market worldwide.
James Foice, the association's chief executive, said "The majority of our Chinese guests are leisure travelers currently. It's encouraging to see that operators expect their Chinese business to increase in the region of 10 to 15 percent in the next three years, with some expecting it to become their number one overseas market in that time."

Jeff Cai, general manager of auto product at JD Power China, said established Chinese automakers are weaker in resource integration and less favored in the capital market. If they want to survive, they must accelerate technology and product innovation and strive to improve quality.
Jacobi said he expected an upgrade of the New Zealand-China Free Trade Agreement "should proceed as planned".
