The new Kindle app now takes in literary preferences from new readers, and spits out book samples Amazon thinks they’ll like. It’s powered by Goodreads, the social network for book reviewers that Amazon acquired last year.

The new program provides readers with limited time discounts on Kindle-exclusive books. A small widget on the product page tells readers how much time is left on the countdown deal, and how much the price will increase.

The new program is open to anyone, but Amazon is gearing the program toward?app and game developers. T-shirt designs are submitted through Amazon’s developer portal, but don’t require?an Amazon Appstore Developer account. Even those with a developer account will need to create a specific Merch by Amazon account. Shirts should be available on their own Amazon page within hours of submitting a design.
