BEIJING, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- Senior public security officials from China and Russia met here Friday, vowing to enhance cooperation and jointly safeguard regional peace and stability.     This year marks the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China as well as the 60th anniversary of the establishment of China-Russia diplomatic ties, said China's Public Security Minister Meng Jianzhu in a meeting with the Director of the Federal Security Guard Service of Russia Yevgeni Murov.     He praised the successful cooperation between the two countries' public security departments in the past years and called on the two sides to further enhance law enforcement cooperation within the framework of bilateral relations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).     Murov said China had accumulated valuable experience in safeguarding public security during the Beijing Olympics and the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the founding of New China.     Russia is willing to learn such experience from China and hoped to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China's Ministry of Public Security, he noted.

BEIJING, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao said on Friday that China hopes to advance the strategic cooperative partnership with the Republic of Korea (ROK).     "We will work with the ROK to increase friendly exchanges at various levels and enhance pragmatic cooperation in various sectors," Hu told Kim Hyong-o, speaker of the ROK National Assembly.     Hailing the smooth development of China-ROK ties in recent years, Hu said the leaders of the two nations had maintained frequent contacts, exchanged views often and reached broad consensus on important issues.     "This gives strong impetus to the growth of bilateral relations," Hu noted. BEIJING, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese diplomat told reporters Wednesday a substantial content is more important than the title of the outcome of the forthcoming climate talks in Copenhagen, Denmark.     The key to success of the conference is to uphold the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Kyoto Protocol, the principle of "common but differentiated responsibilities" and the Bali Road Map, said Yu Qingtai, special representative of the Foreign Ministry for the UN climate change talks.     "No matter what the title of the conference outcome will be, we must follow the principles of the UNFCCC and the Bali Road Map," Yu said.     He said China's determination in coping with climate change has never wavered and it has never relaxed efforts in this regard though the global financial crisis has posed a severe challenge for the country's economic growth.     However, it is unfair to make developing countries shoulder the same responsibilities as rich countries on emission reduction, Yu said.     "The principle of 'common but differentiated responsibilities' is the foundation for international cooperation, and denial of the principle undermines the basis for international partnership," Yu said.     "Common but differentiated responsibilities" was set up in the UNFCCC, which was signed by more than 150 countries in 1992.     In less than two weeks, the 15th Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC will open in Copenhagen to renew greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets set by the UNFCCC Kyoto Protocol, the first stage of which expires in 2012.

BEIJING, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- The annual per capita GDP in Beijing was expected to top 10,000 U.S. dollars in 2009 as the national capital expected an over 9.5 percent economic growth for the same year, said an official with the municipal economic planning agency Thursday.     Beijing expected to rake in financial revenue totaling 202.7 billion yuan (about 29.8 billion U.S. dollars), up 10.3 percent year on year, said Zhang Gong, head of the Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Committee.     The income of urban and rural residents were estimated to rise by 9 percent and 12 percent respectively in 2009 compared to 2008 figures, said Zhang.     Government policies and investment had helped boost local industries amid the global downturn, Zhang said. The length of highways and track traffic lines in operation reached 884 kilometers and 228 kilometers respectively currently. The city still has 276.7 kilometers of track traffic line under construction, he said.     The annual per capita GDP in Beijing was more than 9,075 U.S. dollars in 2008 and the figure was 7,370 U.S. dollars in 2007.

BEIJING, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- The Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) of China's manufacturing sector stood at 55.2 percent in November, unchanged from the previous month, the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing (CFLP) said on Tuesday.     It was the ninth straight month that the PMI reading stayed above 50.     A reading of above 50 suggests expansion, while one below 50 indicates contraction. The PMI includes a package of indices that measure economic performance.     In November, new order index and output index both held steady from figures in the previous month at 58.4 percent and 59.4 percent, respectively.     New export order index was 53.6 percent, down by 0.9 percentage points compared to November while purchasing price index rose by 6.5 percentage points to 63.4 percent.     Only three out of the 20 surveyed sectors reported a PMI index reading below 50, which were paper making and printing, oil processing, and beverages making.
