Zhou made the remarks at a seminar themed "Sino-German Economic Relations: Risks and Opportunities", co-organized by Koerber-Stiftung and the China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE) in Berlin on Friday. Zhou now serves as president of the China Society for Finance and Banking and adviser to the CCIEE.
Zhu's experience epitomizes the inconveniences faced by China's 250 million elderly residents, many of whom struggled as more services went digital during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Zhou is accused of committing contract fraud while working for the Party history research department of the Zhejiang provincial committee of the Communist Party of China. The CCDI said he fled to Hong Kong after being placed under investigation in 2008.
Zuckerberg's apology came a few days after Facebook was criticized for failing to properly protect the data of over 50 million users.
