BEIJING, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- China has tightened settlement and sale of foreign exchange by individuals to curb non-normal cross-border capital inflow, according to a statement of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE).     Banks should deny, review or report to foreign exchange regulators, individual purchases or settlements of foreign exchange suspicious of splitting up one deal into several smaller ones to dodge limits on the size of exchange transfer by one person, which is understood to be one of the channels for hot money inflow, said the statement on Wednesday.     Practices including one overseas individual or institution remitting foreign exchange to five or more individuals within China who settle them respectively, or five or more individuals buying foreign exchange and remitting them to one and the same overseas individual or institution, on a single day, every other day or consecutive days, are considered exchange splitting behavior, said the SAFE.     China in 2007 set the limit of up to 50,000 U.S. dollars per year for an individual to exchange between yuan and foreign exchange.

ROME, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- China's experience in eradicating hunger can be learned by other developing countries, the president of the UN International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) said on Tuesday.     Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the World Summit on Food Security, Kanayo Nwanze said China has done a lot both in increasing national funds for agriculture and in supporting other developing countries through strategic rural investments.     "I have seen firsthand progress," he said. "China was able in 30 years, from 1978 to 2007, to reduce rural poverty from 30 percent to 1.6 percent through massive investments in rural development and rural areas, focusing on women, right policies andl and access."     For Nwanze China can be a role-model for other developing countries.     "Through her own experience China is able to collaborate with others in bringing its knowledge and technology to other parts of the world," he said.     However, "it is then the recipient country's responsibility to ensure that these experiences are properly used," he added.     "China's partnership with developing countries, in particular Africa, is able to assist these countries but it is imperative that the developing countries have themselves the right policies to ensure that the investments reach the rural population," Nwanze said.

BEIJING, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- China's top legislator Wu Bangguo said Wednesday the country regards Egypt as one of the most important strategic cooperative partners among Arabian and African nations.     "We attach great importance to the relations with Egypt," Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, told visiting Deputy Speaker of Egyptian People's Assembly Zeinab Radwan. To promote relations between China and Egypt, both influential countries in the world, conformed to the fundamental interests of the two nations and the two peoples, and was also conducive to regional and world peace and prosperity, Wu said. BEIJING, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- China's industrial output is expected to grow by about 16 percent year on year this month and in December and the full year industrial output growth could reach around 10.5 percent, Minister of Industry and Information Technology Li Yizhong said here Saturday.     At the 3-day International CEO Roundtable conference, Li said the industrial output growth would guarantee the manufacturing-based Chinese economy should achieve its full-year growth target of 8 percent.     China set the about 8-percent growth target in March this year. The government believes 8-percent GDP growth is essential to generate enough jobs.     According to the minister, China's industrial economy stopped falling and began to stabilize and recover in March this year. In October, China's industrial output rose 16.1 percent from a year earlier, the fastest pace since March 2008 and the sixth consecutive month with an acceleration of year-on-year growth.     Li said the industrial output in October had climbed to the level in June last year, which indicated a V-shaped curve of the recovery of the industrial production activities.     Other figures, such as rising company profit, surging power consumption, and increasing export orders, also pointed to the notable recovery of China's industrial production, he said.     Li also cautioned that the recovery base of China's industrial production was not solid and some industries and companies were still faced with production and operation difficulties.     He said China should continue its efforts to restructure its economy and change growth pattern by promoting innovation and technological upgrading, conserving energy and cutting emissions, and integrating information technologies with industrial development.     According to the minister, the industrial production accounted for 43 percent of China's total GDP in 2008 and contributed 42.8 percent to the GDP growth last year.     Thanks to the global financial crisis, China's economy cooled to its slowest pace in seven years in 2008 and expanded 9 percent from a year earlier to reach 30.07 trillion yuan (4.4 trillion U.S. dollars).

BEIJING, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- China should take more forward looking and preemptive measures to fight inflation expectations following this year's credit boom and runaway property prices, said a report released by a leading Chinese bank.     Bank loans should be extended at a more reasonable pace with improved structures next year and policy fine-tuning is necessary, the Bank of Communications has said in a report released by its financial research center.     The government should maintain the continuity and stability of its monetary policy and meanwhile be more targeted and flexible, it said.     The report noted an over brisk equity and property market are always prelude of inflation. Money flow should be regulated to prevent asset bubbles.     It also suggested government increase supply of land resources and affordable housing and crack down on land enclosure to curb skyrocketing property prices which gained the most in 14 months in November.     CPI, the main gauge of inflation, jumped 0.6 percent in November from a year ago, the first monthly growth since January, because of lower statistical bases and rising food prices.     The producer price index (PPI), a major measure of inflation at the wholesale level, declined 2.1 percent in November from a year earlier.     The report expected PPI to end monthly drop in December, and the annual CPI decline to narrow to 0.8 percent.     Hyperinflation is unlikely and CPI is predicted to rise four percent next year, it said.

BEIJING, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Premium of China's insurance companies hit 1.02 trillion yuan (149.6 billion U.S. dollars) in the first 11 months of this year, up 11.65 percent from a year earlier, according to the China Insurance Regulatory Commission Thursday.     The year would be the first year that China's insurance premiums exceeded 1 trillion yuan, data from the commission showed.     From January to November, premium of property insurance rose 22.28 percent year on year to 264.02 billion yuan, and that of life insurance was 757.66 billion yuan, an annual increase of 8.37percent.     The commission said the country's insurance firms were expected to eye combined profits at 46.09 billion yuan in the first 11 months, an increase of 57.45 billion yuan over the same period of last year.     Profits of the country's insurers nationwide was about 26.1 billion yuan in the first half, up 98 percent, the commission said in July.
