“Amazon held to the old way of doing things for a long time,” said Margaret O’Mara, a University of Washington?history professor with a focus on urban history and capitalism. “The biosphere and the adjacent buildings are the first bespoke Amazon spaces and that is really interesting.”
“I spent many, many hours there,” Jorgensen said. “The company has become in part what it is because we all worked our butts off down there. We can’t take all the credit, but a lot of people hustling for many years helped the company succeed. There was a lot of blood, sweat and tears.”
“At first I was skeptical. When they first rolled it out last fall, I knew a few people that were doing it and, my kind of the impression was, ‘Be careful because they might pull it.’ And then it continued for months and months and they kept hiring people.”
“Hell yeah,” he says without hesitation.
“Brexit means British businesses are looking further afield and China presents a great opportunity,” Martin said.
“Are these companies stopping innovation? Are they stopping other companies competing in the AI age? They have the most data and the most resources. These are important questions,” Zhang said.

“I remember as a kid, every year we celebrated the day before the Chinese New Year, which is New Year’s Eve. “I guess we should have schooled them a bit about a phasing-in process and not to bunch up at the listing house door,” said Dick Beeson, principal managing broker, RE/MAX Professionals in Tacoma, Wash. He added that “The real estate sky isn’t falling” for sellers.
“I have been coming to China as a consultant since 1983, so I know the country. China has always been good for surprises. People in the past have been skeptical, but China has published its five-year plans and fulfilled most of the promises in them. They have also done all this without a major crisis, whereas the West has had a very serious financial crisis 10 years ago.”
